The Rhine Tower is probably THE landmark of the city of Düsseldorf. It stands directly on the banks of the Rhine and marks the entrance to Düsseldorf’s media harbor. The TV tower, which is around 240 meters high, was completed in 1982. It is the tenth highest television tower in Germany.
You should definitely treat yourself to the view from a height of 168 meters and go up there. From up there you have a magnificent view over Düsseldorf. In good weather, the view even extends to the nearest Rhine metropolis, Cologne.
The Medienhafen is a Düsseldorf sight you must see. It is a hodgepodge of different architectural styles and buildings designed by many renowned architects. Walking through the Media Harbor, you can discover buildings designed by architects David Chipperfield, Joe Coenen, Steven Holl and Claude Vasconi. The “New Customs Yard” with its crooked silhouette by architect Frank O. Gehry is considered the port’s flagship. The harbor also leaves nothing to be desired in terms of culinary delights. Linger here over small delicacies.
This world-famous and lively district of Düsseldorf is not to be missed. The old town is only about half a square kilometer in size, but it has a lot to offer. About 260 pubs are located here.
